Coach Ric Marta is an incredible coach, guardian, and mentor who has played a pivotal role in shaping my soccer journey. I’ve had the privilege of training under Coach Ric since the age of 14, and the impact he has had on my development as a player and as an individual is immeasurable.
Coach Ric takes a vested interest in his players and practices a holistic approach to coaching in which he not only gets to know a player’s skill set and deficiencies, but also their state of mind and psyche. This personalized focus on the individual beyond the game is a rare quality that makes him stand out among other coaches.
Coach Ric’s ability to tailor training sessions to the specific needs of each player has been honed through years of experience working with individuals with diverse skill sets and training habits. There have been many instances where Coach Ric has thoughtfully identified areas of improvement, not only in my form, fluidity, and overall play, but also in my mental approach to the game. His keen observation and insightful feedback have been instrumental in my growth as a player
One remarkable aspect of Coach Ric’s coaching philosophy is that he doesn’t promise miracles. He believes in the synergy of mutual interests, hard work, and a genuine love for the game to create an environment where players can exponentially improve and grow. It’s this realistic yet optimistic approach that fosters a sense of dedication and determination within players, such as myself.
In conclusion, Coach Ric not only refines skills on the field, but also stands as a mentor who shapes character, resilience, and fortitude. I am eternally grateful for his guidance, wisdom, and knowledge which he continues to share with me on my continuous journey to becoming a proper “futbolista.”
Thank you Coach Ric, for all the time, effort, and life lessons!

“My daughter, Carmen has been training with Coach Ric Marta for 7 years now. I am grateful for the incredible impact that he has had in Carmen’s athletic journey. His coaching style embodies qualities that truly make a difference in the lives of the young athletes that he has taken under his wing.
He has an encouraging nature and a wonderful laugh that creates a positive and uplifting environment, making it easy for both players and parents to feel at ease. His ability to make the game fun while still maintaining high expectations for their best effort at all times is commendable.
His understanding and commitment to player development are evident in every session. Coach Ric’s hardworking and skilled approach, both technically and tactically, demonstrates his dedication to teaching the game effectively. The technical aspects of his coaching showcases a deep understanding of the sport, instilling confidence in the players under his guidance.
His strength as a coach, in my opinion, lies in his ability to inspire confidence and trust among his players. It is clear that he genuinely cares about their progress and well-being, always striving to see them improve and work hard. Coach Ric’s motivation is contagious, creating an environment where players are not only driven but also find joy in the process.
In summary, Coach Ric Marta’s coaching goes beyond the field; it shapes character, builds confidence, and instills a strong work ethic. We feel blessed to have him as Carmen’s coach and appreciate the positive impact he has made on her athletic journey.
Thank you for being a trustworthy, caring, and motivating force in Carmen’s life.
God bless“

“2-1 win over Vietnam, which will open its first World Cup campaign against the USA. At the 2023 Women’s World Cup, the Philippines will face Switzerland, co-host New Zealand and Norway in Group A. Bonta played with current Philippines national team player Jessika Cowart, now with Swedish club IFK Kalmar, under coach Ricardo Marta at Gryphons SC before it joined De Anza Force SC.REINA BONTA: Coach Ric [Ricardo Marta] was a big supporter and “professor” of the Brazilian style, which now feels very full circle, and taught me the value of “joga bonito.” His daughter, Gabriella Marta, played on the team too, and we, along with Jessika Cowart, who I now play with on the [Philippines national team], spent countless hours watching games together at his house. He always sported a bright yellow Brazil jersey.“

“Coach Ric worked with my daughter privately outside her ECNL club training for most of her high school years. His commitment to his players, work ethic during the training and passion to the game inspired my daughter to work hard in every session. Coach Ric always had a well-planned technical drills for my daughter. He also tailored some of the skill training to my daughter’s position. His attention to details during the training made a big difference in my daughter’s highly competitive games. We feel extremely lucky to have Coach Ric in my daughter’s soccer journey. Not only has he made my daughter a better soccer player but also a better person. We highly recommend Coach Ric!“

“I have been learning from Coach Ric for most of my life and there has never been a time when he hasn’t made me a better player or person. I first started training with Coach Ric when I joined his Gryphons 98G White team at 7 years old. He taught me how to take a good first touch, how to juggle, and how to make an accurate pass. Above all else, though, it was under his tutelage that I fell in love with the game. Without Coach Ric, there is no State Cup Championships, no University of Washington, no professional soccer, no World Cup. He’s been with me at every step of my career, celebrating my successes and guiding me through the tough times. Any chance I get, I train with him; he helps me refine my strengths and he gives me tools to make me better. His passion and understanding of the game are second to none, and if I had a do-over, I would choose him as my mentor every single time.”

“Ric was my daughter’s coach for nearly 5 years. My daughter, now 15, currently is a midfielder playing on a top level EGSL team in the Bay Area. To this day, she credits Coach Ric with her development as a player, from her technical skills to her tactical approach to the game. Most importantly, through his positive and passionate encouragement, Ric helped foster in her a true love of soccer which has in turn taught her the value of hard work, discipline, and commitment. He brought his energy, passion, and commitment to his players to every practice, game, and tournament, going above and beyond in every way as a coach.“

“Coach Ric was my coach for several years; he built my technical and tactical foundation and fostered in me a genuine love for soccer. He brought joy and enthusiasm to every practice and every game. Coach Ric has a true commitment to his players and provides them with the means to help them succeed. He ensures that every player performs to his or her best ability at every training session, which has taught me the value of work ethic and focus. I couldn’t have asked for a better coach to start me off on my journey as a soccer player.“

“My daughter was coached together with a core set of girls at the Gryphons Soccer Club, by Coach Ricardo Marta for almost 6 years (from age 8 to age 14). This set of girls, including my daughter, were coached by Coach Ricardo just 6 months after entering this competitive club playing in the NorCal league, after having played AYSO. Coach Ricardo transformed these enthusiastic little girls who barely understood the sport and evolved them into a Premiere League team in NorCal over these six years. And, he did this by developing the girls into a potent force that earned a name for itself by its patented style of modern soccer – a style that can best be described as a unique fusion of Tikki-Taka and creative Juego Bonito, based on Coach Ricardo’s deep philosophical beliefs in creative individual play blended with incisive team dynamics.“

“Coach Ric has worked with our son for the past year. We’ve seen great improvement over that time, not only in his skills but also in his confidence. Ric knows when to push and when to pat a kid on the back. Our son has really made a breakthrough in his time with Ric, trying out for – and making – competitive teams where he is playing regularly.”

“Coach Ricardo is an extremely knowledgeable coach! He stresses the importance of player development, work hard and have fun at the same time. Our daughter started playing soccer at the age of 9, a bit later than most club soccer players. She loves the game, picked up the game tactics quickly but lacked the ball control skills. Her soccer team coach recommended Coach Ricardo for 1-1 technical coaching. She started out twice a week for a few months then maintained at once a week for the last year and still continues. After working with Coach Ricardo for only a couple sessions, we noticed an improvement in her soccer games. Coach Ricardo has the most positive, reinforcing and motivating teaching skills. After” each training session with him, our daughter always walked off the field sweaty, exhausted but having the biggest smile on her face. Coach Ricardo is just an amazing coach all around!”

“I can tell you with all honesty that Coach Ricardo is the BEST coach my son has had; he is very serious about the soccer but also very nice. The technical training from coach is second to none. Ricardo’ techniques focus on the fundamental skills kids need to learn and effectively uses repetition to achieve this, under Ricardo’s tutelage, my son continues to develop as a soccer player both technically and mentally. Also worth noting, He educates parents as well, recapping every training session with the details what was accomplished and for what purpose which makes it so much easier for parents who are interested to be in a position to help their children to excel. We admired your coaching/training style and my son talked about the hard work and discipline you taught him during the session and he enjoyed every opportunity he had to learn from you.I would highly recommend Coach Ricardo to anyone seeking the best soccer training opportunities and looking to gain confidence with the ball and raise the level of play for your children.”
